Robert Eslick is our #1 Boy Scout

My name is Robert Eslick, I am 14 years old (soon to be 15), and a freshman (9th grade) at Kecoughton High. I live with my mom & dad, 2 younger brothers, a 5 year old sister, and lots of pets. We currently have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 hamsters, a turtle, a 4 foot Spiny-Tailed Iguana, and lots of fish.

In my spare time, I enjoy climbing hill with my ATV, talking on the phone, watching TV, playing with my pets, and sleeping. I have been involved in Scouting since the very beginning, starting with Tiger Cubs in 1st grade, where I achieved 2nd place in the annual Cub Scout fund raiser of Popcorn sales, and moving thru the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, and 1st and 2nd year Webelos. During this period of time, I earned the Arrow of Light and the Parvoli Dei religious award. As a Bear and a Wolf attending summer camp, besides having a lot of fun and doing lots of neat stuff, I won awards for placing 1st place, 2 years in a row, for BBGun shooting.

After crossing over into the Boy Scouts in 6th grade, I found out that's when the fun really started. Everything I had learned as a Cub Scout helped prepare me to progress through the ranks of Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and 1st Class. As a Boy Scout, we work on merit badges such as camping, canoeing, and water-skiing. As a member of Troop 10, we go camping at least once a month to places like the Appalachian Trail, where we have hiked up to 25 miles in one trip, to Lake Gaston for a fishing trip, Camp Pepsico, Camp Chickahominy, and Bethel Park. This past summer, I was 1 of 4 from my troop that chose to go on a canoeing/hiking adventure for 12 days to Ely, Minnesota. During this trip, we canoed over 110 miles, hiked about 50 miles and even survived a tornado that passed thru our camp. We all made it without injuries but lost a lot of our gear. The next big adventure is scheduled for this summer in Arizona to go hiking, canoeing and burrowing (taking donkeys).

Since becoming a Boy Scout, I have continuously been either a Patrol Leader or an Assistant Patrol Leader. I have also been Troop Instructor.

I am a member of the Order of the Arrow (O.A.), which is an honorary organization which helps promote Scouting worldwide. This organization does community service work, such as cleaning up after natural disasters like the recent hurricanes Dennis and Floyd. The O.A. is currently involved in the cleanup efforts at Camps Chickahominy and Pepsico, both received extensive damages. I am currently working towards becoming an Eagle Scout, the highest rank for a Boy Scout to achieve. I hope to be receiving that in the near future.

I am having a good time and I am very proud to be a Patrol Leader for the Hawk Patrol of Troop 10 and Den Chief for the Flaming Arrows Patrol of Pack 151.

I just want to take this time to thank Robert and his family for the time and effort they put into our Pack. Robert is a good role model for all the Cub Scouts and we appreciate everything he does to make our Pack great.
